JAY MORRIS ST JOHNS COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIR FAILS TO SHOW FOR THE FORUM SPONSORED BY ST. AUGUSTINE RECORD AND LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS
Jay Morris, St. Augustine Record and League of Women Voters showed major disrespect for the voters of St. Johns County last Thursday evening. Jay Morris, Chairman of the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners refused once again to show up for a voters information forum. Does Morris really think he has this election in the can? Does he really think that voters do not realize he comes off as having a grandiose opinion of himself and believes he is superior to other people?
If Morris cannot serve the people by showing up to provide information to the people, how will he be able to show up and perform his job to represent the people. No respect for the voters – No respect for himself, even is he does think he is special.
Morris kind of reminds me of President Obama. He is so full of himself he does not hear what the voters are saying and questioning. I guess, just like Obama, we will never get Morris off the golf course.
On the other hand, the St. Augustine Record and League of Women Voters insulted the public and candidates, Rebecca sharp and Merrill Roland, by refusing to grant them any time to speak greater than 3 minutes each. The reason being, their opponents, Jay Morris and Doc Renuart, failed to show up for the voters information forum. Ms. Sharp and Mr. Roland were severely penalized for their opponents lack of respect to the candidates and citizens of St. Johns County by not showing up.
What happened to the questions the panel was planning on asking all the candidates? Sharp and Roland did ask this question of Patricia Gill, Unit Chair of the St. Johns County League of Women Voters. Gill provided no solid, professional answer to their questions.
I guess the panel did not get the questions, primarily because Renuart and Morris did not show up and bring the questions with them for the panel to ask.
It all appeared to be a conspiracy to me. Candidates who were endorsed by the St. Augustine Record were treated with dignity and respect, while Kathy Nelson of the St. Augustine Record slouched down behind Grace Guido, hiding while she snickered at presentations made by Moeller, Brandhorst, Roland and Sharp. I guess when The Record cleaned house last year they got rid of all the professionals.
It also appears that the St. Johns County League of Women Voters needs some younger volunteers, with some decent background, NOW, this is 2014.
Good luck Mr. Big Shot Morris.
May the public cast their vote for Merrill Roland for St. Johns County Commission, Seat 4.
