Merrill Paul Roland is retired from his profession as a DJ and Radio and Television Announcer. Merrill came to live in St. Johns County in 1986 after a long career with the Merv Griffin Enterprises.
Mr. Roland was the title holder of a company which was the first privately owned enterprise operating a mobile cell phone and two-way radio business in Florida.
Merrill is also a certified Gemologist and Jeweler and a Licensed Tour Guide by the City of St. Augustine, Florida.
Our Candidate, Merrill Paul Roland, is 60 years young and works diligently to take care of his health at all times.
Merrill an NPA Candidate – No Party Affiliation – is running for the office of St. Johns County Commissioner, District 4.

Merrill was previously elected to the position of Republican Executive Committeeman.

Mr. Roland’s qualifications for the office of County Commissioner include his experiences as a young graduate in an entry level position all the way up to the top as a CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of a major corporation.
Merrill indicates that he is debt free in both his personal life and his professional business life. Mr. Roland states: “I will use my successful financial life experiences to help, guide and foster St. Johns County into being a professionally run debt-free municipality which we can all be proud of.” “I do not want to hear our County Manager saying ‘we are running into a wall and may have to raise taxes’ any longer.” “I feel bad when I see our citizens having to sacrifice the necessities so they can pay their taxes.” “Raising the taxes is not always the professional or correct answer”
When asked, why he wants to run for Office of County Commissioner, Mr. Roland stated: “I am “Debt Free” in my personal and business life. I will use my successful life experiences to help St. Johns County become debt-free and I care deeply for the community in which I live. I want to maintain the Health, Safety, and Quality of Life of all St. Johns County citizens, without raising taxes.”
Merrill states: “My goals for my upcoming term when elected are to “Lower Our Debt,” build a “Travelers Information Radio System” on Hwy 95 to attract new Tourism, therefore, creating new jobs and helping to keep the millage rate low and to seek “New Clean Businesses,” examples being Solar Heat and Electric Companies and Electric Vehicles.”
Merrill wants to remind us that: We are the “Sunshine State.”
